The engine was the biggest F monster. Sometime in its life, the original MB motor was replaced with GPW95897. My previous owner told me that he traced this jeep back to the original owner who bought it as surplus from the Army and it had this engine in it. I have actually located the owner of the jeep that engine goes in. There was a patched hole in the water jacket that was cracked and leaking, so the engine hadda go.
both rear hubs have the F and GPW
The brake/clutch pedal rod. Severly worn and unusuable. Needed replacing.
The cover of the steering box has an F on the outside and GPW inside.
The steering box is a Ross. The case is not marked but there is a tag rivited to it showing a rebuild? Mt Ranier/Tacoma Washington Ordnance Depot with a nice flaming bomb.
Weird. I think the Jeep did it's time on the East Coast and they had a steering box sent from Washington State.
The pitman arm has GPW and a nice F.
